Find Trevorrick, near St Issey
Trevorrick is a small settlement in the St Issey area of north Cornwall, close to Little Petherick Creek and the countryside south of Padstow. The Cornish place-name record identifies Trevorrick as Treworek within St Issey. This guide starts with that hamlet, then covers the separate Trevorrick in St Merryn parish. Choose the parish as well as the name when planning a visit.
It helps to plan with a full address. Trevorrick Farm’s published directions describe the approach through St Issey and distinguish the lanes towards Higher Trevorrick, Trevorrick and Sea Mills. They are directions to that particular business, not a public car park or a promise of access to neighbouring land. Use your host’s instructions for your own destination.
Little Petherick Creek and the landscape of the mills
The creek gives this part of Cornwall a different character from an open-coast beach. Water, exposed banks and fields create a changing view, while the area’s former mills add a human story to the landscape. The Camel Trail follows a former railway between Padstow, Wadebridge, Bodmin and Wenfordbridge. Cornwall Council describes it as a largely traffic-free, surfaced, multi-use route. For a visit from the St Issey area, its official information identifies Old Town Cove as one of the access points, alongside the larger town entrances.
Choose a manageable section and check how you will reach it. The trail itself and the lanes leading to it are different environments, so do not assume the entire journey from your accommodation is level or separated from traffic. Share the route considerately with other users. The council’s map and facilities information are the best place to start for access, toilets and licensed cycle hire.
Nearby Padstow: food, shops and coast
Padstow provides a nearby focus for a day out, with visitor information, places to eat and shopping options around the town and wider area. The tourist information centre’s eating-out and shopping directories let you follow through to individual businesses. Check the location attached to a listing: these directories cover more than Padstow itself, and a venue described as nearby may still need a separate journey.
For a coastal outing, the beach guide introduces places north of Padstow including St George’s Cove, Harbour Cove and Hawker’s Cove. A separate hamlet called Trevorrick lies in St Merryn parish, near Carnevas and Porthcothan. The parish’s neighbourhood-plan evidence lists it among the smaller settlements, and the Cornish place-name record gives its name as Trevorek. It is not the Trevorrick beside Little Petherick Creek. The main photograph on this page belongs to the St Issey location.
For this western destination, St Merryn provides a useful local focus. Its parish website introduces community facilities and meeting information, while the tourist information guide covers the surrounding area and its coastal setting. Use the St Merryn accommodation option below, and check your destination’s complete address before travelling. Facilities described for St Merryn are not being claimed for the small hamlet itself.
Arriving, getting around and choosing a stay
Plan journeys to the exact address rather than treating Trevorrick as a town-centre destination. Transport for Cornwall provides bus timetables and journey-planning information, while Padstow Tourist Information has an overview of local transport links. Check the final part of the journey and your return arrangements before setting off; a nearby bus route does not establish a stop beside your accommodation.
